THRIVE is currently seeking a Senior Human Factors Engineer to add to its growing team in Atlanta, Georgia. We are looking for a passionate and committed individual who has demonstrated experience in medical product development, understanding people and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovation in the real world. In this role, you will lead client partners and multi-disciplinary THRIVE teams to meet user and business objectives related to the quality of physical user interactions, interface design, and overall user experience (UX). You will have a unique opportunity to help build and continue to evolve the Human Factors practice at THRIVE and establish industry leading best practices and methods.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Serve as a Senior Human Factors Engineer and project lead on healthcare/medical research projects, product development programs, and UX/UI design programs.

  • Assume responsibility for executing key project activities, creating deliverables, and delivering projects on time and on budget.

  • Combinesappropriate research methods, theory and content that address the client’s business challenges. Plan and execute human centered research studies, such as ethnography/contextual inquiry in healthcare settings, focus groups and co-creation sessions, preference tests, and usability tests, both formative and summative.

  • Develop research materials, such as protocols, scripts, and data collection instruments and assumes responsibility for collecting research data in various formats. Leads the analysis of research data and produces deliverables suitable for HF/UE files.

  • Work on interdisciplinary teams with researchers, industrial designers and engineers to analyze and synthesize data, conduct HF evaluations, and generate concepts, product specifications, and usability goals.

  • Synthesize complex information from multiple data sources into clear and actionable insights, frameworks, requirements, and documentation assets.

  • Structure and facilitate collaborative multi-stakeholder client workshops that inspire clients and generate actionable outcomes at various points in the product development process.

  • Collaborates closely with clients to build and maintain strong relationships and client satisfaction.

  • Utilize and further develop state-of-the-art protocols, standards, systems, and research methods.

  • Author documentation compliant to relevant standards for client medical device development programs.

  • Deliver compelling verbal, written and visual communications.

  • Credibly lead presentations with senior executives and client teams.

  • Build and maintain a network with peers in professional research, human centered design, and human factors communities.

  • Provide thought leadership (i.e. writing, speaking, publishing, etc.) and constantly contributing to THRIVE’s growing IP.

  • Coordinate with the leadership team to identify and develop new business opportunities and contributes to the development of client proposals.

  • Actively mentor and coach junior staff members and serves as advocate for human factors within THRIVE.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and lead research and strategy projects.  Serves as the lead point of contact for client relationship on a project by project basis.

  • Combine appropriate research methods, theory and content that address the client’s business challenges.

  • Plan and conduct qualitative research studies, analyzes field data, and clearly communicates insights and business opportunities for creating new value. 

  • Perform comprehensive analyses of the competitive landscape, stakeholder ecosystem, market forces, and trends shaping an industry.

  • Deliver verbal, written and visual communications, with an emphasis on problem framing, visual storytelling and strong information design.

  • Simplify complex information from multiple sources into clear and impactful insights, frameworks and narratives.

  • Structure, manage and facilitate multi-stakeholder workshops that inspire clients and generate actionable outcomes at various points in the innovation process.

  • Lead presentations with senior executives and client teams.

  • Lead the definition of new product, service and brand experience offerings that deliver new value and achieve the client’s business objectives.

  • Create a compelling vision for clients and develops innovation roadmaps for client categories, brands and businesses that guide the transformation of new offerings into value.

  • Build the conviction and confidence necessary for clients to take bold ‘calculated’ risks and leverage their full potential.

  • Build and maintains a network with peers in professional research, design and innovation communities.

  • Coordinate with the leadership team to identify and develop new business opportunities and facilitate meetings with potential prospects.

  • Provide thought leadership (i.e. writing, speaking, publishing, etc.) and constantly contributing to THRIVE’s growing IP.

  • Mentor junior staff members in the research and strategy practice.
