With deep expertise in ethnographic research, secondary consumer research and the evaluation and testing of design concepts, Alex is a natural leader at THRIVE. His experience ranges from factory automation and food distribution to medical ventilators, music accessories and more. Alex leads the Research & Growth Strategy group at THRIVE in the development of new products, services, brands, user experiences and business ventures. He’s expert at aligning innovation and business strategies, building innovation pipelines that adapt to changing market needs and helping organizations listen to consumers in order to move in the best direction possible.
Prior to joining THRIVE, Alex worked for RKS Design in Thousand Oaks, CA, the Business Innovation Factory in Providence, RI and Conifer Research in Chicago, IL. He’s conducted research studies in Asia, the US and Europe. Alex’s client list is impressive, ranging from small start-ups to Fortune 500 companies such as Intel, Honda, Mitsubishi, McDonald’s, Amgen, SC Johnson, Kaiser Permanente, Hamilton Medical, Fender and Line 6.
Alex earned an M.A. in Design Planning from the IIT Institute of Design in Chicago, and an undergraduate degree in Media System Design from the University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, Germany. He’s also taught design research and innovation planning classes at CEDIM, a leading design school in Monterrey, Mexico.
Alex is truly international. He was born and raised in Germany and is fluent in English, German and French. He loves cooking, photography and traveling.
