The mark of success for Jeff McCloud’s work? For people to not even notice it. As a product designer with a background in creating user interfaces and connected experiences for digital devices, his goal is always to focus on ease of use and creating a seamless experience — one that is so intuitive the user doesn’t even recognize it. Today he brings this covert power to THRIVE’s Digital Experience Design practice.
Jeff started out on the marketing side of product development (he earned his BBA from the University of Georgia), before realizing he’d rather be creating products than selling them. He subsequently went on to earn a Master’s in industrial design at Georgia Tech, focusing on healthcare and accessibility and worked at their Research Institute doing human factors engineering and usability testing for commercial and military applications. Jeff’s post-grad career took him to Massachusetts where he worked on the government side of innovation, doing research and design for MITRE, followed by a role designing connected health products at medical consultancy Ximedica. He also worked on product design at Teva Pharmaceutical Industries before heading back south to join the team at THRIVE as its Director of Digital Experience Design.
Since most of his work is in the digital realm, Jeff spends a lot of time outside of the office making physical things. Woodworking is one hands-on hobby; he’s recently been making vintage-style toy race cars for his two small children. You can also find him getting his hands dirty in the kitchen, or even mixing a craft cocktail every now and then.
