Industrial Design
In this connected world of ours, every product competes with every other product for space in consumers’ lives. For that reason, it’s critical that products and product design resonate with their intended targets.
At THRIVE, we help companies use cutting edge industrial design to create meaningful experiences that go well beyond simple functionality. Our industrial designers help brands build relationships with consumers through an iterative process of discover and refinement leveraging people, culture, and technology as inspiration.
What is industrial design?
Industrial design refers to product form and function, and the intersection between consumers, products, and the environment.
The industrial design process includes helping companies create brands that help them engage and connect with consumers on an emotional level, leveraging products and experiences.
More than simply branding, however, industrial design goes further by helping generate and develop ideas and concepts that can lead to future product development. The process includes exploring how things like ergonomics, aesthetics, usability, psychology, consumers’ emotional attachment and market placement can be leveraged to add value to both consumers and the business.
Why is industrial design important?
As consumers, we need products that are functional. However, we also want products that are attractive and pleasing to our senses. Industrial design marries these two needs. Whether you’re aware of it or not, industrial design already affects almost everything we use in our daily lives, every day, and drives improvements to those products and tools.
Simply put, industrial design can help businesses by making their products more functional, usable, consumer-friendly, user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing for customers. This, in turn, can lead to increased sales.
Industrial design can also help businesses decrease the materials needed for their products or use those materials in a more efficient way. This, in turn, can make products (and the companies that make them) more environmentally friendly.
When it’s done well, industrial design can improve daily life for the businesses that make products, the consumers that use those products, and for the environment.
How THRIVE helps companies
At THRIVE, we offer a range of industrial design services including helping companies design and position their brands and products and helping business owners and executives conceive of new product ideas and concepts.
We also work closely with businesses to design products and services that will resonate with their customers, helping them grow both their customer base and their sales. Our services also include design strategies that help businesses recognize how color impacts sales, and how to create and leverage a color and finish palette to maximize consumer engagement.
Finally, we believe in helping businesses create product prototypes early in the development process, and in testing those products often. We use a variety of methods including urethane foam models, fused deposition modeling, stereolithography, aesthetic models, CNC machining and cast urethanes to help out clients implement their ideas in an impactful way.
