Expanding Our World Class Design Team. Key Hire: John White
THRIVE is yet again expanding its world class design team, and we’ve made yet another strategic hire as we continue to excel in innovation, strategy and design. John White, the newest addition to the team, joins us as Director of Industrial Design.
“My attraction to THRIVE was their inherent curiosity and hunger for something better — a constant desire to change the game and turn the typical client /consultant relationship sideways,” says White.
With 20 years of product development experience, White has a unique skill -set that spans both consumer and professional products with a deep expertise in medical device development. White has worked for leading companies such as Abbott, Abbvie, Baxter and GlaxoSmithKline. Most recently, White served as Principal Designer of Insight Product Development, a design innovation consultancy in Chicago Illinois. His global experience includes all aspects of the design process and demonstrates his ability to operate on both micro (design programs) and macro (strategic) levels with top clients in various industry sectors.
While White’s experience includes all aspects of the design process and not just the end result, he has a particular interest in concept development and translating key learning’s and user experience needs into actionable strategy. “We’re always discussing how we can do things better, faster and smarter, as well as design and innovate in a hyper-productive and disruptive way,” says John in regards to THRIVE’s design thinking.
White holds a Masters degree in Industrial Design from the University of New South Wales (Sydney), where his coursework included user centered design methods, innovation/new product development, and advanced human factors. Previously an adjunct professor at both Philadelphia University and the Art Institute of Chicago, White is currently a faculty member at Georgia Tech where he teaches in the Master of Industrial Design Program.
