OVERVIEW
Kellen is an outgoing Human Factors Engineer who enjoys novelty and staying on his toes. His favorite aspect of his job is the exploration of new concepts, ideas, and ways of thinking. His personal and professional life converge in his deep-rooted love of people, which helps him act and think empathetically and always put the user at the heart of everything he does. Kellen focuses on maintaining friendships and relationships and takes pride in his ability to thrive in chaos.
EXPERIENCE
As a graphic design enthusiast and appreciator with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Kellen applies his passion for art onto a scientific approach in his role as a Human Factors Engineer at THRIVE. Over the course of his 5 co-op rotations, he developed experience in engineering testing and R&D at J&J Ethicon, which is where he refined his core engineering skill set. At The Live Well Collaborative, Kellen worked as a Design Engineer, collaborating with teams of industrial, graphic, and UI/UX designers to design and deliver concepts for clients such as Procter & Gamble, Boeing, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and UC Health. At THRIVE, he continues to expand his knowledge of human factors, design and design thinking while also expanding his knowledge of strategy.
EXTRAS
Throughout his academic career, Kellen satisfied his interest in community engagement through the National Society of Black Engineers. He also served as Finance Chair and President of the organization. During his collegiate summers, he volunteered as a tutor for math and sciences and helped facilitate events like summer enrichment programs and robotics competitions. Kellen enjoys snowboarding and anything outdoors like hiking, running, and other fitness activities. He spends a lot of his free time listening to music and hanging out with friends.
